The Goodwood Revival is a three-day festival held each September at Goodwood Circuit since 1998 for the types of road racing cars and motorcycle that would have competed during the circuit’s original period—1948–1966

In the autumn of 1998 motor racing returned to Goodwood for the first time since the closure of the famous Motor Circuit in 1966. Known as the Goodwood Revival, the event has since become one of the biggest historic motorsport events in the world and the only one to be staged entirely in period dress.
The festival acts as a showcase for exceptional wheel-to-wheel racing around a classic circuit, untouched by the modern world and relives the glory days of Goodwood Circuit, which ranked alongside Silverstone as Britain’s leading racing track during its active years. 1948 to 1966 saw Goodwood host contemporary racing of all kinds, including Formula One, the famous Goodwood Nine Hours race and the celebrated Tourist Trophy sports car race.
The Revival is now firmly established in the international motorsport calendar but it’s not just for car enthusiasts. The event is defined by its period dress code: tweeds and trilbies for men, furs and frocks for the ladies, and also famed for its war bird flying displays in recognition of Goodwood’s history as a wartime fighter base.
The festival includes Grand Prix cars from the Fifties and Sixties, sports and GT cars, as well as historic saloon cars and little-seen Formula Juniors. Many of these important historic racing cars are driven by famous names from motor sport past and present making this event a must for motor enthusiasts.
Over The Road
Don’t be fooled into thinking all the fun takes place on the Motor Circuit. Cross the bridge taking you – literally – Over the Road and you open the door to a whole world of jollity.
Vintage sounds
Live performances add a buzz of glamour to the Revival. Many of these performances take place Over the Road and there is plenty of seating from which to enjoy this retro and retro-inspired music.
All the fun of the fair
Fairground rides, a roller disco and any number of eating and drinking spots can be found. After the races on the Motor Circuit are over and night falls, the Doom Bar is a particularly popular place for a spot of dancing and excited chatter, with live music and real ales until 10:30 (21:30 on Sunday).
Shop till you drop
It is not only the Revival High Street that offers guests the chance to pick up unique memorabilia and interesting gifts. Over the Road features a host of excellent stalls, mainly made up of motoring or vintage related wares so if you partial to period features, pack your wallet!
Creche
Crèche facilities are available near the Supershell Lawn, behind the Woodcote Grandstand, for children aged eight years and under. Children may be left with qualified carers for a period of one hour for a small charge. This charge will go to charity. Pushchairs may also be left at the Crèche.
Due to the nature of the event, visitors can expect to experience a certain level of noise from the vehicles taking part. Ear defenders (available at the Goodwood Shops on-site) will enable all visitors, especially children, to get closer to the action without feeling uncomfortable.
