An intimate and lively alternative to the large commercial festivals, set in its usual organic farm spot at the heart of the Somerset countryside.  There is loads going on for families and Farmfestival is one the most affordable festivals of the summer too.

An absolute abundance of poets, comedians, story-tellers, silliness-makers, stress-reducers, film-screenings and theatre have been announced to add to the already bulging musical line-up at Farmfest 2016.

Comedy

Family entertainment

Farmfest has built up a large family audience, due partly no doubt to it’s chilled out and relaxed atmosphere, and by providing a huge range of games, arts, activities and workshops for children and adults to get involved with.

The famous kids tent is forever bursting at the seams with arts and crafts activities for toddlers to tweenies and this year’s offering will be no exception:

What makes Farm Festival unique?

It’s small, laid back but energetic. Has a village fete atmosphere, with no queues, no attitude, and respectable prices. All this with a music policy that has grown a great respect from people in the know, and people that know how to party. At night, parents have the choice to have a party (if off duty).

In 2006, a small group of friends native to Somerset made the decision to host an intimate, cost-effective festival for their friends as an alternative to the events dominating the English Summer. Farmfestival’s subsequent success has seen attendances grow organically through word of mouth, from an initial 400 to its capped 4000 capacity.

Year after year, loyal followers and newbies alike make their way down to its countryside home at Gilcombe Farm, Bruton, for the promise of wallet-friendly good times and acts on the cusp of stardom.

The festival remains adamantly sponsor-free, the lo-fi DIY aesthetic combining with the genre busting music policy to create the unique atmosphere. Previously quoted as one of the UK’s best kept festival secrets (Dj Vadim / Venue Mag), the cat is slowly being let out of the bag..

Site and facilities

Due to its tiny size, Farmfestival is very easy for parents.  The festival site is a naturally sloping amphitheatre, on well draining sandstone.

The Family Camping area is available in the adjacent field, level, with short easy access via specially laid tracks.  The Family Campsite is independently lit and has its own loos and washing facilities.  All parts of the site are accessible by buggy.  The site is also accessible for disabled visitors.

Toilets cleaned regularly. Site is fairly level, but also very small, so car park and camping is minutes away from the main site.

Full emergency First Aid facility, fully crewed with A&E doctor on site at all times, together with nurses. Mobile phone coverage for all providers on site.
