This book has some truly scrummy recipes for cooking on campfires and BBQs.  There's a particularly fun recipe from Romany, founder of Festival Kidz, included in the Sweets and Treats section - Tin Cakes!  Try it and you'll be hooked - great fun for kids.

Because many of the recipes here are for campfires, I would also suggest getting a copy of a Cool Camping book to find some lovely little campsites that allow you to light real fires.  My personal favourite is (unsurprisingly) Cool Camping Kids.
