Coping with mud and rain

muddy festivals … oh joy.

Of course, we all hope and pray that the sun will shine all weekend and we can bask in the glory of its soft warm glow, chilling with a cold beer, lazing on the grass, kids dancing around happily to the beats from the stage… ah bliss!

But occasionally the dreams just don’t happen and it’s a good idea to have some plans in place in case of wet weather.  It doesn’t take much rain for several thousand pairs of feet to turn a grassy field into a mud bath.

Babywearing at Festivals

If you were lucky enough to spend a magical weekend at the Just So Festival in Cheshire last year you may have seen or even made use of the free sling hire that was available. Chester Sling Library had a popular stall just at the entrance of the festival and parents could leave a deposit (cash, car keys) and borrow a sling or baby carrier. Amanda and Lucy who ran the stall also gave out lots of advice and showed everyone how to use the sling of their choice. It was conveniently located next to the buggy park!

The last time I was at Glastonbury festival I saw a family struggling over the fields with a pushchair and despite the lovely weather it looked like such hard work. So why take a sling with you to a festival this summer? Read more…

Baby wearing – bitten by the bug!

My neighbour introduced me to baby wearing. She lent me her Baby Bjorn one day after I had complained I couldn’t get anything done because my baby just would not settle.

It was quite a success so I then got my own Baby Bjorn but I soon discovered I couldn’t wear it for long periods of time without it digging in to my shoulders…  Read more…
