Green Man 2016 Review

p1050332I’ve wanted to go to Green Man for a long time now, and I’m so happy we finally made it there. Set in a lush green Welsh valley, the site could not be more beautiful and acoustics could not be better. The main stage, called the Mountain Stage, has been designed for sound and scenery and is an impressive achievement. Edith Bowman’s Great British Music Festivals – Book Review

Edith Bowman and Naomi Jones at BBC Radio 4 Studio

Last year I was lucky enough to live one of my dreams – being a guest on a Radio 4 show. I was invited onto Woman’s Hour to talk about taking children to festivals – you can still listen to the show here:

Radio 4 – Taking Children to Music Festivals

To add to that excitement, my fellow guest on the show was Edith Bowman, DJ, festival mum and all round lovely person – we shared festival stories in the Green Room before the show – and she sent me her new book to read and review!

Best Family Festivals 2015

CIAF 2014

Here are our top picks for 2015!

Whether a festival is good for you depends on what music you’re into and what other things you like doing at festivals, as well as the age of your kids. If you are new to festivals with kids, you may want to read our guide to Choosing the right Family-Friendly Festival.

We have included our affiliate links in the listings – if you click “Buy Tickets Now” you will go straight to the ticket page for your chosen festival. You will not pay anything for this but the festival will give us a small commission to keep Festival Kidz up and running – so please use them!

Green Man Festival 2014 Review

20140816_202851 Come for a Cwtch

We fell in love with Green Man Festival last year and I have to admit to being worried about how it could possibly meet the expectations we had from it being so wonderful. I need not have worried because yet again this beautiful festival filled my heart with happiness. I did not think it would be possible for us to love it even more than we already did.

The Flying Seagull Project: What ya Ghana do when they come for you?

by Vicky Lane

We first met the Flying Seagulls at Wilderness Festival in 2012.  One of the first areas we tend to head for is the children’s area at any festival. Within minutes we noticed the Seagulls, and who could miss them? In every children’s area they tend to attract the largest crowds, never an empty seat when they perform unless they have you dancing, jumping around and becoming part of the show.  They become the backbone of every kids’ area they perform in. Green Man 2013 Review

20130816_194053_LLS_optGreen Man – There’ll be a welcome in the hillsides

The Green Man Festival celebrated its 10th anniversary this year and it has grown into a 15,000-capacity event in a stunning  location in the Black Mountains. We shamefully live very close to it but have never been before.

Last year they struggled with terrible weather and having Olympic equestrian trials on the site just weeks before made for a messy, difficult festival. I have never come across a festival listen and take on board the results of having such a hard year. They made changes to be prepared and ready for bad weather and dealt with the issues people raised. This came across all weekend, so much care and love for the site from the organisers rubbed off on everyone there. I have fallen for Green Man and hope my review does it the justice it rightly deserves.

Festival Kidz Team: Our Picks 2013

Every year we face the same dilemmas – Do we go to our favourites, the ones we know and love, where the kids feel at home?

Or do we try out some new ones, potentially discover something amazing, and widen our knowledge of great festivals to recommend to all you lovely families out there?

We’re very lucky in that we get invited to far more than we can manage to attend… but the reality is that with kids (or even without kids) it’s just too tiring (and expensive!) so we’ve had to learn to pick and choose.

Here are the festivals we’ve picked this year and why Read more…
