Jimmy’s Harvest Festival

21st - 22nd July 2018

Location: Jimmy`s Farm, Pannington Hall Lane, Wherstead, Ipswich, Suffolk, IP9 2AR

Website: jimmysfarm.com

This is one of those festivals that seems to have been created with families in mind. From the main stage to the campsite a lot of thought has gone into keeping the younger festival goers happy and entertained and that of course makes for happy grownups too.

There is entertainment on the main stage with big names. If a more relaxed vibe is needed there is an acoustic stage in a vegetable garden and the Flying Seagulls are in the Chipolatas kid’s zone, offering a great range of music, dancing, storytelling, circus skills and more. Jimmy’s Farm is a great family day out even when the festival isn’t on and the normal attractions are still there including farm animals, play areas and a butterfly house.

Food and Drink

But what about the Beer and the Sausages? There is of course a strong emphasis on food and drink with chef demos and a sausage eating competition in addition to a host of food stalls including vegetarian options and of course a whole lot of sausages. The drinks on offer include plenty of craft beer as well as cider, cocktails and mocktails for the kids (or those who know they will be up early with them)!

Camping

If you do have an early riser it’s good to know that the BBQ breakfast and coffee van on the campsite opens at 6.30am. There is also a communal area with a giant tipi providing kids entertainment from 8.30am plus BBQ, pizzas and a bar right on the campsite in the evening. (The bar closes at 11pm, so shouldn’t cause much late night noise). Jimmy’s Farm are running the campsite themselves this year and camping tickets have already sold out. But there are plenty of other local options listed on the site and day tickets are still available.

More information and tickets are available from the festival’s website.

Jimmy’s Farm Sausage and Beer Festival 2015 Review

With Evelyn aged (very nearly) six and Martha aged two and a half

There seemed to be a lot of excitement about Jimmy’s Farm Sausage and Beer Festival this year. Talking about it beforehand I found many people who had been before and loved it. So we were really looking forward to the weekend. Now it’s over I have mixed feelings. Read more…

Whether a festival is good for you depends on what music you’re into and what other things you like doing at festivals, as well as the age of your kids. If you are new to festivals with kids, you may want to read our guide to Choosing the right Family-Friendly Festival.

We have included our affiliate links in the listings – if you click “Buy Tickets Now” you will go straight to the ticket page for your chosen festival. You will not pay anything for this but the festival will give us a small commission to keep Festival Kidz up and running – so please use them!

Jimmy’s Sausage and Beer Festival 2014 Review

We visited Jimmy’s farm last year for a family day out in the school holidays, it was a rainy day but we had a blast and knew we would have to go back again for a visit.

imageFor the Sausage and Beer Festival the weather couldn’t have been better, it was bright and sunny with a bit of cold and was a friendly and buzzing atmosphere. Getting there was fairly simple but we missed the turning off the A14 as there was no signage however once we got there it didn’t take long to drive in and get parked.

On entering we were welcomed by some friendly Jimmy’s Farm employees selling programmes and pint mugs. I love the idea of reusable beer mugs at events as not only is it a lovely keepsake but it’s a way of keeping the site cleaner. Read more…
