Open East Festival

Open East Festival

Discontinued

Location: Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London

If like me you missed Sacrilege, the amazing life-sized inflatable bouncy castle replica of Stonehenge that toured last year as part of the Olympics, you’ll be pleased to hear that you can catch it again at a special weekend festival to mark the one year anniversary of the London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony.

Tickets are only £9.50 for adults, £6.00 for children aged 5 – 16 – excellent value for a full day event.

Other highlights for families include:

·         A mini travelling art circus from the House of Fairy Tales, featuring theatre, magic, music and games

·         The Real Food Festival celebrating the Capital’s culinary diversity, including demonstrations by leading chefs in the Real Food Theatre, and delicious street food from around the world

·         The Art Car Boot Fair, featuring leading East-London artists including Bob & Roberta Smith, Gavin Turk and Pure Evil, where visitors can meet the artists and grab an art bargain

·         A music stage packed with musicians from around the world including Mali, the Congo, Columbia, Jamaica, and London 2012’s very own Pandemonium drummers from the Opening Ceremony

·         A floating cinema and a banquet on a bridge

·         A spectacular surprise finale for the festival by subversive duo Bompas & Parr

This marks the start of the phased opening of the Park, and it’s also a chance to come down and see it before its full opening next spring.
