Tents
Coping with mud and rain
muddy festivals … oh joy.
Of course, we all hope and pray that the sun will shine all weekend and we can bask in the glory of its soft warm glow, chilling with a cold beer, lazing on the grass, kids dancing around happily to the beats from the stage… ah bliss!
But occasionally the dreams just don’t happen and it’s a good idea to have some plans in place in case of wet weather. It doesn’t take much rain for several thousand pairs of feet to turn a grassy field into a mud bath.

Top 5 Tips for Buying a Family Tent
I love looking at tents. You will often find me at festivals wandering around the family camping section, checking out other peoples’ tents with increasing envy.
Choosing a tent is a difficult thing to do – after all this rolled up piece of fabric is the only thing that separates you from the (let’s face it) usually freezing cold and often very wet British weather. So it is important you get the right one for your family.
WIN A Festival Pop Up Tent!
They make great festival tents for an older child, or a separate play tent for younger ones, are extremely light and easy to put up or pack away.
More tents are available here.
This competition has now closed. The winner was Tracey Hatch. Enjoy your new tent Tracey!

So if you find it hard finding your tent, then take a moment to think about how your kids might feel if they were looking for it?! Read more…
VW Camper Van Tent
The coolest tent at the festival?
If you love festivals and you love retro revival things like old VW’s, or if you just like to be a little different, then you will love this VW Camper Van Tent! Your tent will be SO easy to find in a festival campsite…
This 4 man tent is a brilliant, full-size replica of the iconic 1965 Splitty, officially licensed by Volkswagen. It was a huge hit on festival campsites this summer for the lucky few who managed to get hold of one!
Best Campervan Awning… ever!
The Outwell Country Road
Last weekend I used my new awning for the first time – I LOVE IT!!!
I got it from Just Kampers a while back having searched for nearly a year for the perfect awning until I finally settled on the Outwell Country Road. Just Kampers were involved in the design of the Outwell range of awnings so you can rest assured they have been created by people who know a thing or two about campers.
The Vango Airbeam
Today someone asked me to look at the new range of Vango AirBeam tents for 2011. They have no poles! No, they’re not flimsy single-skin pop-up tents, those take a highly skilled knack and the strength of the British Army to fold back into their storage disc bags. These ones actually have inflatable poles!
I see the appeal… Read more…
Tips to avoid Muddy Tents
Keeping your tent clean and cosy when it’s deep mud outside!
A wet muddy festival is most parents main worry because if you’re not prepared for it, it could turn your lovely weekend away into the most hellish few days on earth. But the good news is that a muddy festival can also be really exciting for your kids and provide your family with a lot of hilarious anecdotes for years on end.
