What is Hay Festival?
Hay Festival was founded around a kitchen table in 1987, set in the Welsh border town of Hay-on-Wye in the staggering beauty of the Brecon Beacons. The festival continues to attract the most exciting writers, filmmakers, comedians, politicians and musicians to inspire, delight and entertain. For 10 days in May, Hay is full of stories, ideas, laughter and music.
Hay Fever a festival for tots, teens and inbetweens:
Every summer half-term the gates of Dairy Meadows in Hay are flung open to welcome thousands of families to Hay Fever, with artists and authors to appeal to all ages.
Camping
No camping at the festival itself but there are plenty of campsites – some within walking distance.

We offer some very family friendly accommodation every year during the Hay festival and HowTheLightGetsIn Philosophy festival. With family sized yurts, and also bow top gypsy wagons that can sleep 4, we also have some bell tents as a more affordable option too. Please take a look at our intimate small campsite if you are thinking of coming to Hay and are looking for somewhere to stay. We keep our guests cosy with wood burners too, Fred & Kitty
