Romany Greatrex

Romany has written family festival features for many websites and magazines and has served on the UK Festival Awards judging panel (Best Family Festival category).

Romany is a huge fan of outdoor play and hands-on learning and believes many festivals can provide very rich cultural and creative educational opportunities for children.  She loves music and pre-kids she worked for a major international record label.

Romany is a stupidly proud mum of two fantastic free-spirited girls and the slightly less proud owner of a rather neglected allotment too.  She currently runs her own business, Blooming Loopy, works in her local primary school, and is a volunteer youth worker.  Fitting everything in is often a struggle but somehow she muddles on through – and it works out in the end… mostly! 😉

At the end of 2013, Romany wanted to spend more time with her family and so she passed the ownership of Festival Kidz over to Naomi, who is doing an amazing job of taking the organisation forward in new and exciting ways and spreading the word about great family festivals nationwide.

Romany’s festival style: Small-medium, beautiful and relaxed but full of interesting workshops and unexpected surprises.

Favourite Festivals so far: Wood, Nibley and Larmer Tree, but there are so many others she loves too… anywhere that provides respite from her chaotic and super-busy lifestyle!  As her children are virtually teens now she has also been to Reading (NOT on her recommended list for little ones!) and hopes to try Truck one of these years, for their fantastic music line-up.
