Set at the stunning historical setting of Herstmonceux Castle in Sussex, England’s Medieval Festival is a three day immersive experience like no other. Held over the August bank holiday, this hugely popular annual event is the largest and most authentic Medieval event in the UK. Hosting over 15,000 visitors each year, it’s a chance to step back in time and discover the wonder of the past.

Celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, this unique festival offers a very special blend of history and fun for young and old.

Kids Kingdom is a world of medieval fun for little ones. Children can take part in workshops too. From Jester school and shield or wand making to magic shows, theatre and drum schools.

The spacious level camping within the castle grounds offers a chance to bring your own equipment and camp just a stones throw from your car, and for those looking for a touch of luxury there’s a medieval glamping village and even a chance to book a VIP room in the castle. For all weekend guests, the evening starts with a torch-lit procession from the camp site and an optional medieval banquet fit for a king.
Traditional musicians join a music line-up of foot-stomping folk bands who party day and night like its ‘1499’. The Buxom Wench Tavern is always popular, serving real ale, traditional mead and 21st century brews. While medieval eats are on the menu alongside delicious treats for all the family. Kids of all ages adore the moonlit cinema, medieval stargazing and fireside storytelling.
