BIG KAHUNA 2016 CANCELLED (12/7/2016)
The Big Kahuna is a brand new, 3 day music festival taking place on Bank Holiday weekend at Holmbush Forest in Horsham, Sussex.
There are 9 themed areas in the forest, with comfortable camping, theatre, silent disco, delicious and fairly priced food, a multitude of bars (craft ale, rum, vodka and beyond), bushcraft, interactive arts and crafts experiences, workshops, and much more.
Kids’ area
Secure and alcohol free, the Little Kahuna area is dedicated to children’s entertainment and enjoyment, with an arts and crafts tent, face painting, balloon modeling, story tellers and beyond. The main attraction is a fully themed Frozen cinema including falling snow, frosted trees, polar bears and snowmen. Films will include the ever-popular Frozen, Lion King, Minions and an array of children’s classics. The kids’ bar will include healthy smoothies, pick and mix, popcorn and candyfloss, fruit bar, hot dogs and ‘Little Kahuna burgers’.
Also recommended for children:
Within the forest is Alice’s Garden – a fantastical, out of this world playground for all ages, featuring white rabbits, giant toadstools, human-sized chess pieces, and glittering roses set amongst the trees.
I’ve nothing against festivals – especially child-friendly ones, but the way these people are behaving is disgraceful. This is a music concert – how are the Happy Mondays child-friendly?. My elderly Mother lives less that half a mile from this festival – through an unfenced forest – and she’s really worried about security. It’s a really quiet area. They’ve completely ignored the local community, many of whom are elderly. They could have visited people and explained but they are just bullies thinking about the money. All the 1 star reviews on their Facebook page have been removed. I don’t think people who will buy tickets in good faith quite realise how this company treats local people.
Thanks for your comments Fran, it’s interesting to hear both sides of the story.
I know it sounds fun, but the organisers have completely ignored people who live right beside the venue. Please don’t buy tickets – they haven’t got a licence (at 31 Mar) and there are loads of local objections. Bands may not be suitable for kids. Sorry for the rant.
Thanks for your message we are currently looking into this, will get back to you in the next few days.
The festival was granted a licence today (4th April) and I can’t see anything that makes it unsuitable for children. They are putting on a lot of family friendly facilities and activities for children. I won’t be able to comment on the festival itself until afterwards, but we’ll try to get a reviewer along to see how it goes.
