Boomtown 2017 review
Boomtown is a 60,000 person capacity music festival held on the Matterley Estate, Winchester in August and has been running since 2009. It is described by the organisers as a pop up city of wonderment, theatre, escapism and community with eleven districts filled with a fully immersive and theatrically led experience, with hundreds of actors bringing the film-like street sets to life.

One CRAZY pop-up city!
Review by Sarah, Jeff, Ash (aged 15) and Poppy (aged 8)
We drove from Brighton on Thursday the 7th excited and looking forward to our very first Boomtown Fair experience with our two children Ash (15) and Poppy (8). The sun shone, radio played and we set off. Winchester here we come. The festival is set in the beautiful surroundings of the Matterley Bowl.
KidzTown at BoomTown – Haven’t you grown!
A pop-up city where the impossible is possible and the abnormal is normal!
KidzTown at BoomTown has had a growth spurt in 2014.
At the heart of the city that is BoomTown, tucked between OldTown and the Mines, KidzTown provides it’s very own mecca of mischief and make-believe!
The ‘larger than life festival’ will see a crazy selection of activities and interactive installations inspired by the bonkers BoomTown culture. Previously described at FestivalKidz as ‘not for the faint hearted’, KidzTown provides a world of delight for mini Boomers to really ROAR! Read more…
