Charity Teddy Bears’ Picnic at Camp Bestival

Time to dig out your old children’s unwanted teddies because this summer saw the launch of ‘Persil Pass on the Love‘ picnics, fronted by DJ, TV presenter and mum Jo Whiley.  Mums and their little ones were encouraged to get together with friends, bring along their once-loved-but-now-forgotten teddies  – newly washed – and swap them with other children to be cherished again!

We all know that kids quickly grow out of their teddies, so rather than throw them away, Jo is encouraging families to bring their old (but clean!) soft toys and then pass them on for another child to love – either by swapping with a friend or donating them to charity partner Oxfam.

To launch the campaign, Jo hosted the first ever ‘Persil Pass on the Love Picnic’ at Camp Bestival on Saturday 30th July, providing a fun activity to keep the kids happy before the music started! At the award-winning kid-friendly festival, excited families met the radiant Jo Whiley, enjoyed Punch & Judy and took part in the event by swapping their newly-washed soft toys and joining in on the first of the summer’s Pass on the Love picnics.

Toys will not only be given a new lease of life but with Oxfam, they can be passed on for other children to enjoy. Please host your own ‘Persil Pass on the Love’ picnic with friends and family this summer and let us know how you get on!”

All un-swapped soft toys will be donated to Oxfam, the chosen charity of Persil, and passed on to another child to love.  Oxfam’s 700 shops raise around £30 million every year to help Oxfam’s work fighting poverty around the world, at the same time as offering a range of unique items, rarities and bargains unmatched on the high street.  To find your local Oxfam shop, visit or call 0300 200 1252.
