Highlights for Families include Angel Gardens: a wonderful space for families and adults alike and everyone will find something to suit, even if it’s just a quiet space to reflect for a while. They will bring arts, crafts, workshops and amazing spaces to the weekend. Run by folk who work for love not money they have built up a great following at festivals across the country.
These are our writers’ favourite festivals in South England. Festival-goers down south have lots to choose from ranging from small and laid back to exciting and busy – it depends what you’re into!
For more festivals please see our special family friendly festival map.
A Glastonbury Festival fallow year is always a strange one for the people that go every year. I used to be one of them – and even now I still get a pang every year when it’s on – so I understand that you might have a festival-shaped hole to fill.
Still let’s hope that the 2018 hole isn’t just full of mud! Although even if it is, it won’t stop us from having fun.
The great thing is that now there are so many other festivals to go to (we have over 150 on our site, with more added every year) that you could use this year to explore something completely new. And if you find an amazing one, please do share it with us on our Facebook page, or email us on firstname.lastname@example.org!
Our festival highlights – Eloise (10) Charlotte (7) & Amelie (7)
The summer of 2017 was amazing. We had rain, we had mud, we had boiling hot sunshine… Yet we managed to dance our way through everything the British weather decided to throw at us.
We made new friends, we had paint fights, we learned to both throw and catch the diabolo, and most of all we found enjoyment in squelching through the mud!
Bizarre [bih-zahr] /bɪˈzɑr/ – very strange or unusual.
And Blissfields 2017 pulled out all the stops to create a perfectly bizarre and fun family festival this year.
We visited Blissfields as a family in 2015 for the first time and fell in love with this fantastic little treasure. After discovering the theme for 2017 was BIZARRE we were all pretty excited to explore what the brilliant Blissfields team had in store.
All of our writers are festival veterans with more festivals under their belts than they can count! So which festivals are they excited about this year?
More fun than a house party!
The big question was finally answered this year – can Blissfields survive bad weather? Every other year it had been blessed with hot sunny days, but in 2016 we were dealt heavy showers and storms. This could have dampened our spirits but it didn’t, as the answer was a definite YES! Read more…
Blissfields is nearly upon us! As usual we look forward to some excellent music and one of the best and definitely most friendly kids’ fields around.
We talked to Angel Sam, of Angel Gardens who run the special kids’ area, about what she has in store this year. Read more…
A warm welcome from our blissful Blissfields family
Something amazing happened to our family at Blissfields festival this year. It was so amazing that it reminded me why I am so enthusiastic about taking my children to festivals. But just to keep you all in suspense I’ll get back to that later. Read more…
If like me, you are feeling a little bit sad this week because you’re not at Glastonbury – here’s something to cheer you up!
