Getting to the festival and setting up camp:

We arrived Thursday evening around 7. We had set off at 4 o’clock, met friends not far from the site at 5.15 but then took some time to get onto the site & to be directed to a plot. We were booked into the family campervan area & were a bit worried when we arrived as it already seemed to be very busy. Although in 2010 we had not arrived until the Friday morning, we were much further back this year in the family campervan area & were glad we had made the effort to get there Thurs.

Chilled in a Field 2011 Review

The weather at Chilled in a Field 2011 was wonderfully sunny then heavy rain on Friday, patchy sunshine rest of time with light rain Sunday. A bit cold and windy on the last day.

Review by: Fairy (with 3 year old)

Getting to the festival and setting up camp:

There was no queue at all, and I never saw more than 3 or 4 at a time waiting to get in. The campsite was organised into “quiet in the morning” and “quiet in the evening” with plenty of space in each for us to choose where to set up our family camp. We had 5 children, and 8 tents in our camp area, so were quite self-contained, not affected by other campers, but close enough to everyone to still enjoy. The walk from car to tent was not very far at all, although there is a hill, but there were people on hand to help carry your stuff for a small donation. On the exit day, due to the bad weather, we were able to drive our car down to pack up. This was a luxury I can not thank them enough for!

2011 Small Nations Weather: Mixed, the weather had been lovely the week before, turned a bit wet during the weekend, but no real problems.

Review by: Anon (with 4 kids, aged 8, 10, 11 and 12)

Getting to the festival and setting up camp:

No problems ! We joined others who had set up camp during the week as staff, parked right at the front of the parking field, wheel barrowed all our stuff in and found the family field really easily.

Entertainment – Line up and Kids Activities:

Kids activities were in the main field so we didn’t miss anything, genius!  Read more…

2011 LOTF Festival Weather: Showers Friday, mostly sunny rest of weekend, bar a few showers on Saturday. Very heavy rain overnight on the Friday night but the farm is very well draining so it didn’t really have a major impact. A tad chilly.

Review by: Ami (with 13, 6, 5 and 4 year olds)

Getting to the festival and setting up camp:

We have a campervan so were in a seperate field to the tents, there field did look like it was on quite a slope though!  There was also Boutique Camping available which was in hired Bell Tents.  There was no delay in getting on to site or to get our wristbands as we drove in but some of the staff seemed unsure of where to direct us.  Others that we camped with had to wait over an hour in a queue to get their wristbands.

2011 Penn Festival Weather: Sunny then Wet Saturday, then very Sunny and Hot Sunday

As mentioned in The Independent – 15 July 2011

Review by: Claire (with 2 kids, aged 3 and 8)

Getting to the festival and setting up camp:

The signs to the festival were quite useful.  No queues.  The car park was right next to the camping area so only a couple of trips and we had everything transported.  There was plenty of room to pitch our tent.

However our biggest worry of the whole weekend was the lack of security at night, there was none basically.  On the Friday there was a huge group of rowdy teenagers near us that had been able to wander unimpeded into the campsite, they managed to keep our kids awake for several hours.  Read more…

The Cornbury Music Festival 2011 Review

arriving at cornbury festival

After a wonderful weekend of fun, music and frivolities with my two lovely festival kids, it’s taken me a few days to regain normality to our routine, hardly surprising when The Cornbury Festival was so entertaining!! Only a half hour’s drive from our home town, in a beautiful countryside setting, who could resist a weekend away with so much to offer? Alpro Soya asked me to come along as their guest to The Cornbury Festival on behalf of Festival Kidz and see how us festival goers really enjoyed ourselves, sampling their free tasty goodies all weekend at the Alpro Breakfest Stand too!!

Line up suited young and old over the whole weekend. Human league headlined the tent on Friday, they were the highlight of Friday for us. Prince headlined the main stage on Sunday and he was amazing!  There was a kids area, which could have been a bit bigger, Read more…
