Family Christmas Events 2013

sledgingOne of the great things about Christmas is spending some magical time with the whole family. It is a fantastic time to be in the UK; with lights, celebrations, carol singing, mince pies and mulled wine. We’re looking forward to getting our sledges out and ice skates on!

Festival Kidz have been looking for the Christmas events which are less about commercialism and more about celebrating community, music, arts and crafts, and the outdoors. With the odd Santa’s grotto thrown in.

Phil King talks Festivals and Treehouses!

Phil King profile picPhil King has long been one of our favourite singer-songwriters.  Oooh, I could listen to the dulcet tones of that gorgeously talented musician all day… 🙂

When we discovered that Phil is playing Larmer Tree Festival this very weekend, we just couldn’t pass by the opportunity to grab him for an interview (if you’re going to Larmer Tree, catch him at 4:30 in the ARC – I’ll be there!)

Romany: We’re really looking forward to seeing you perform again this year.  Do you get nervous when you play to big crowds?

I have noticed that on these experiences that other people seem to be obsessed with their giant cameras, video cameras and taking their tablets to record every moment. Yeah sure it’s nice to document the experience but to what extent? The extent of missing out on the here and now, being so caught up in documenting it that you forget that you are actually a part of it there and then. Read more…

“Are you mad?!”…  That was the reaction that we got from everyone when we told them of our plan.  “You’ll change your mind once the baby comes”, people warned.  But what was it that was deemed to be madness by all around us?  Simply taking our 8 week old baby to the largest music festival in the world… Glastonbury!
