Dance, Live Music, & Arts Festival
(where we play all day, and dance all night)

Chilled in a Field is a favourite of Festival Kidz because they have managed to retain the friendly festival vibe while creating a wonderful safe place for children to play. Due to its tiny size the children are free to roam around, make friends and explore while the parents can chill out and relax. There is live music, workshops and activities, local real ales and ciders, DJs and a relaxing Tea Tent so all tastes are catered for.

chilled in a field

Chilled in a Field is a feel good modern family-friendly festival. Having kids doesn’t have to mean you miss out on the best live music and DJs. Bring them to the party with you! Your friends without kids will love it too. This is a small but perfectly formed festival with everything you need to totally chill.

Grown from the London party scene of the 90’s, Chilled in a Field is a small, independent festival for grown-up party people and their kids. Free activities are available all day; bands, musicians, artists, science, theatre, performances and, of course, awesome dance music from some of the UK’s top independent labels mean you’ll have a great time with no need to keep finding extra cash.

Food and Drink

One of the best things about Chilled is its amazing community kitchen, which has been serving up fantastic home-cooked food since the festival was tiny. It serves a different choice each meal time, ending in their brilliant roast at Sunday lunchtime. Get there early!

There are now additional street food stalls giving us much more choice. There’s also a reasonably priced real ale festival bar with local beers and ciders.

Spa

Guests can indulge in the festival spa with a spot of pampering or a dip in the woodfired hot tub and sauna while the kids play safely within easy sight. These cost extra, but you don’t have to book them in advance.

The Train

The glorious surroundings of the Bentley Estate in Sussex offer a perfect location for a family festival.

For £1 each you can ride the mini steam train around the festival site. There is a large playground on the other side of the park but make sure you ask the driver to stop there if you want to get off.

Branching Out

You will see people climbing around in the trees above you. Although not part of the festival, this is Branching Out, a company that will put a harness on you and get you climbing around on high walkways, then riding the zip-lines through the trees. If your children like climbing this is an incredible experience for them. Ours now look forward to this part of the festival so much we book in advance to stop them from asking about it all weekend.

There is a 10% discount if you book in advance, and we think it’s worth if you have older children. Minimum age is 6 years.

The Woodlands

The area in the woodlands is a wonderful part of the festival. There’s a music stage, a bar, a large marble run and crafts for the children. There’s also wandering performers and theatre.

The People

Chilled in a Field is an environmentally conscious not-for-profit social gathering run by volunteers. It’s a great chance for adults and children to make new friends, discover new experiences and enjoy nature, as well as having a whole lot of silly fun!

See for yourself why this award-winning family festival has won our Festival Kidz awards four years running!

Tickets are capped – to keep the festival feeling small and lovely – and it sells out every year so book early.

We can’t wait to play all day and dance all night with these guys again!
